Old carpet puts up a fight. Stains, odors, matted fibers - it holds onto everything, and no amount of cleaning really fixes it. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The carpet throughout this Bend home had taken years of abuse, and it showed. Pet stains, dark traffic patterns worn into the pile, discoloration near the doorways. It was past the point of saving.

So we pulled it all out. Once the carpet was gone, we got to work installing Stainmaster waterproof vinyl plank flooring throughout the space. This is one of our go-to recommendations for busy households - especially ones with pets or kids. The waterproof core means spills and accidents don't soak through to the subfloor. That's a big deal if you've ever dealt with the aftermath of carpet that absorbed too much over too many years.

The wood-look planks we used here have a realistic grain pattern with a warm, slightly weathered tone. It's a look that works well with the white trim and gray walls already in this home - nothing too trendy, just a clean, grounded style that holds up over time. Vinyl plank also means no refinishing down the road, no worrying about moisture, and a surface that's genuinely easy to keep clean.

What we end up with is a floor that looks sharp and actually functions better for how people live. No more scrubbing at stains that never fully come out. No more odors trapped in the fibers. Just a durable, low-maintenance surface that handles whatever a busy household throws at it. That's the whole point of flooring installation done right.
