Fifth wheel trailers sit high off the ground. That's just the reality. And for a lot of people living in or spending serious time in one, the stock entry steps get old fast - they're narrow, they offer nothing to grab onto, and getting in and out starts to feel like a chore. This customer wanted something better, and we built it from scratch.

We started with a solid platform deck right at the trailer door. Good footing, proper height, built to stay put. From there, we framed out a full staircase with composite treads that give you a confident step every time - no flex, no wobble. The whole thing came together as one connected structure, not an afterthought bolted to the side of the rig.

The handrail system is what really ties it together. We used dark-painted framing with wire panel infill on both the stair run and the deck perimeter. It's sturdy, it looks sharp, and it means you've got something solid to grab whether you're heading up first thing in the morning or coming down after dark. We even worked in LED strip lighting along the top rail - a nice touch that makes the whole entry visible at night without any extra effort.

The before and after here tells a clear story. What started as a basic framed platform turned into a finished porch that looks like it belongs there. The composite decking, the painted framing, the wire panels - it all works together. It's functional first, but it doesn't look like a job-site leftover either.
